Facilities Improvements – Part 1

As a result of the 2017 Manitoba Scotties profits and the receiving of a grant the curling club was able to complete a number of major upgrades to greatly improve it’s long term viability. Over the next several editions of this newsletter we will highlight some of these changes.

If you have been at the club in the last few weeks, you may have noticed the dehumidifier up on the wall at the south end of the building. The dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air and in the ice shed. Curlers should notice the cleaner, warmer air when out curling. The ice will also be more consistent which is great when trying to make that critical draw.

The Charleswood Curling Club was able to procure a used dehumidifier in good condition at a cost of approximately $12,000. With a new unit costing $45,000 significant savings were realized. Since the temperature of the ice will be more consistent , the ice plant will not have to work as hard, therefore reducing our hydro costs, another bonus!
